FAQ
Frequently asked questions about Orax Bot.
General
What is Orax?
Orax is a Discord bot that creates interserver (interserv) chat bridges. It synchronizes messages, edits, deletions, reactions, threads, stickers, and polls across multiple Discord servers.
Is Orax free?
Yes! Orax is 100% free to use. The free plan allows 2 groups per server and 5 channels per group. You can get Orax Plus for higher limits by voting on Top.gg (free) or subscribing for $2.99/month.
How do I invite Orax to my server?
Use the official invite link . See Invite the Bot for details.
Where can I get support?
Join our Discord support server for help with any issues.
Setup
What permissions does Orax need?
Orax needs Manage Webhooks, Send Messages, Embed Links, Attach Files, Read Message History, Add Reactions, and Create Public Threads permissions. See Invite the Bot for the full list.
Why are my messages not syncing?
Common causes:
- The Orax webhook was deleted — use
/debug-channelto check - The bot lost permissions in the channel
- The channel was unlinked
- The group is locked
Run /debug-channel to diagnose the issue.
Can I link multiple channels to the same group?
Yes! You can link as many channels as your plan allows (5 for free, 50 for Orax Plus) to the same or different groups.
Features
Are reactions synced?
Yes! Reactions added to any message are replicated across all mirrored copies. See Reactions.
Are message edits and deletions synced?
Yes! Both edits and deletions are automatically propagated. Delete sync can be disabled per group. See Edit & Delete Sync.
Do stickers work?
Yes! All sticker formats (PNG, APNG, GIF, Lottie) are supported. APNG and Lottie stickers are automatically converted to GIF. See Stickers.
How do custom emojis work?
Type :!emoji_name: to insert an emoji by name. The bot searches all its servers for an emoji with that name. See Custom Emojis.
What happens when a poll expires?
Orax aggregates vote counts from all mirrored copies of the poll across all servers and posts the combined results. See Polls.
Configuration
How do I change how usernames appear?
Use the custom usernames pattern with variables like {username}, {serverName}, {nickname}, and {role}. See Custom Usernames.
Can I block specific words?
Yes! Use the word blacklist to block messages containing specific words. For more advanced filtering, use message filters.
Can I set different settings for different channels?
Yes! Channel settings can override group defaults for message direction, warning messages, and reply style. See Channel Settings.
How do I make my channel read-only?
Set the channel’s message direction to “Incoming only” — it will receive messages from other servers but won’t send its own. See Channel Settings.
Moderation
How do I ban a user from the group?
Use /ban-user-from-interserv-group with a message link or user ID. See Banning Users.
Can I temporarily stop all messages?
Yes! Use /lock to prevent non-admins from sending messages. Use /unlock to reverse it. See Locking Groups.
How do I find who sent a specific message?
Use /track with a message link to trace a synced message to its original author and server. See Track.
Privacy
What data does Orax store?
Orax stores only: server IDs, channel IDs, webhook IDs, and message mapping data (for 30 days). No message content, member lists, or role data is stored permanently. See the Privacy Policy .
